Vicki,

Thank you very much. We will be happy to test EZ-Tape. Do you have any particular needs or directions to suggest for testing? I am a pretty vanilla user, having a 40MB DOS formatted drive on a 1530 running MS-DOS 3.21.

Will,

I have a new release of EZ-Tape from Irwin (who is the 3403 drive manuf.) which we have not completely tested yet. YOu are welcome to a copy, test it and send me your input.

Eventualy we will include this software in the package and obsolete Back-ez. But I need testers first! Development is busy with more important things, like the Roadrunner and VGA 1500. So any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

Vicki

Debbie - please make a copy of the Irwin software and mail it to Will Strang in the Federal sales office. --thanks.

John Snow and I have found Back-ez to be a tempermental and less than completely reliable piece of software. Do any of you know of any other backup software that supports or might support GRiD's 3403 tape drive? Or do you have any suggestions concerning conditions that disturb Back-ez operation. Thanks.

Will:
The program "EZTAPE" works and is supported by GRid. A system without an internal floppy must use the command "SET IRDRV=1" before executing EZTAPE

I've found that Back-Sleazy works better without GRiD386.SYS loaded. Done this way, I can usually successfully back up to floppies. I've had mixed results with tape restores, however. I've tried four, and only two worked.

Will Talmage was testing some Irwin tape backup software; I don't know if it works, or if we support it, etc.
